1Delete it in the app

  1. Open CaseStep and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Delete account, then Continue, then Delete account again.
  3. Sign in once more with Apple or Google to confirm it’s you.

2Ask us to delete it

If you can’t use the app, email us from the email address of your CaseStep account: the one Apple or Google shared when you signed in.

Timeline
Within 30 days

We’ll confirm it’s your account, delete it within 30 days and reply when it’s done.

3What is deleted

  • Your account: your sign-in with Apple or Google, the email address and name that came with it, and your user ID.
  • Your backup, if you turned on “Back up cases to my account”: the receipt numbers, nicknames, status history, priority dates and processing-time choices saved to your account.
  • Your cases on that phone: the app removes the account’s cases from the phone you delete it on.

When you delete in the app, we also revoke CaseStep’s access to your Apple ID (Sign in with Apple) or Google account.

Used the account on another phone?

The cases saved there stay only on that phone. They never reach our server unless they’re backed up. Deleting the app on that phone removes them.

4What isn’t tied to your account

  • Usage analytics: if “Share usage analytics” was on, the app sent anonymous counts (screens viewed, features used, an app-install ID and a general location from your IP address). They’re never linked to your account, so they can’t be found or deleted with it. They expire under Google Analytics’ retention setting, after 14 months at most.
  • Our server’s request logs: kept for up to 7 days. They record that a request happened and may include the IP address it came from, but never a receipt number or your user ID.

5What is kept for a limited time

WhatWhy it staysDeleted
Crash reportsThey include your user ID so we can fix the problem, and Firebase Crashlytics can’t delete them one user at a timeAfter about 90 days
Cached case statusesStatuses we fetched for you, kept so the app can answer quicklyWithin 7 days
Request countersUsed to keep within USCIS’s limits48 hours after your last request

The cached statuses and counters don’t contain your receipt number or user ID in readable form. Both are stored only under one-way hashes, and both expire on their own.
